OCA imposed wage settlement 2008
UK Offshore workers shafted AGAIN!Offshore Contractors Association PRESS RELEASE - 03 September 2008 "— delight as offshore pay deal accepted!! North Sea workers have taken a great stride towards safeguarding the future of the industry after accepting a pay deal following lengthy negotiations, according to OCA chief executive Bill Murray. A delighted Mr Murray was speaking after GMB and Unite members voted to accept a 4.3% offer plus improvements in sick pay from employers. The news comes after more than 9,000 workers were given a further seven days' holiday in April with a further seven to come from October. He said: "This is a tremendous win-win situation. It is a welcome sign that the workforce recognises the benefits of the additional holidays that are still being implemented. "Offshore workers have taken into the account the long-term future for themselves and for future generations. There is only so much money in the pot, even in the oil and gas industry, and we have to make sure there is enough to carry on with the development of fields and the exploration of new ones. "This agreement between employer and employee is great news for the industry."
